Applying for the CPJE...

To register for the California Practice Standards and Jurisprudence Examination, you will need to visit

http://www.pharmacy.ca.gov

This is the official CPJE website site, you will find all the forms that are supposed to be filled as well as in-depth instructions on how to process your CPJE registration. We will take a summary look at the process of registering for the CPJE.

When applying for CPJE, the key points to follow include:

Use your full legal name

This may sound obvious but it is of the utmost importance, lots of people apply for the exam and use hyphenated or different version of their name. The names in your transcripts, driving license as well as the names that the Pharmacy board has in your records should be identical.

Application fee

When submitting your application, you will need a money order, cheque or cashier's check of $200 payable to the pharmacy board. Under no circumstance will this fee be refunded.

Ensure accuracy in filling the Application for Pharmacist Examination and Licensure.

Correct filling of the Pharmacist Examination and Licensure form, first time, will spare you the hassle of having it rejected. The most common error in the applications is the submission of old photos, make sure it is a recent photo (within the 60 days of sending the passport photo) of a 2”x 2” size and it should be attached to the front of the application. Scanned and Polaroid images are not allowed as they decay with time.

Expedited review

This is a provision for those candidates whose spouses are in active membership of the US Armed Forces or they meet the criteria of Business and Professions Code. Where this is applicable candidates should submit a copy of their marriage certificate or proof of legal union. Secondly, for individuals who hold current licenses in other states of the US, they would only need to attach copies of their license in the respective states.

Copies of official transcripts

The official degree transcripts should show the graduation dates as well as the pharmacy degree earned. The transcripts should be sent to the board directly from your college. Candidates who are foreigners should meet the FPGEC requirements. The FPGEC certification will act in place of their transcripts.

Intern hours

Proof of 1500 hours of internship undertaken within the US should be provided or documentation for one year licensed practice in another state should be provided. Be sure to verify your certification.

In addition to the above, the candidate should submit a signed document attesting to the fact that they obtained experience as Pharmacists working in community and institutional settings.

A self-query from NPDB-HIPDB that is original and sealed should be presented to the board. It should be done whine 60 days of application.

Fingerprints

Residents of California can have a live scan of their fingerprints while those unable to use the live scan can use the board of Pharmacy's fingerprint cards. It is important they are verified by the Department of Justice and that they are recent enough.
